What is SST PURE?
SST PURE is a process that finds the most stable bending plane in a golf shaft and installs the shaft with that plane facing the target, so it bends the same way every swing. Full article
What does PURE stand for?
Plane of Uniform REpeatability.
Why don’t shafts already bend the same way in every direction?
Every shaft has small manufacturing variations in straightness, roundness and stiffness. They’re normal, but they make a shaft bend slightly differently depending on which way it faces.
Who owns SST PURE?

Performance
Does PUREing actually work?
In blind player tests by Plugged In Golf, PUREd shafts gained about 7 yards with a six-iron and about 6 yards with a driver compared with identical non-PUREd shafts, and most golfers could feel the difference. The tests were conducted at Club Champion. Full article
Will PUREing fix my slice?
No. PUREing makes a well-fit shaft more consistent. It doesn’t change your swing.
Which clubs benefit most?
Drivers and irons. Drivers bend the most, and irons are the clubs you hit most often. Full article
Do steel or graphite shafts benefit more?
Both benefit. In a test of 36 shafts, graphite reduced off-plane movement by 75.2% on average and steel by 64.7%. Full article
Does PUREing change my shaft’s flex?
No. It changes only the direction the shaft faces when it’s installed.
What is Soft Side PUREing?
An option that installs the shaft with its PURE plane reversed. It can give a softer feel and higher launch for some players, and it’s used only when a fitter recommends it.
Process and cost
How much does PUREing cost?
$60 per shaft on a new build, and $140 per club for a retro-PURE of clubs you already own.
Can I PURE clubs I already own?
Yes, with a retro-PURE. Each club is taken apart, the shaft is PUREd, and the club is rebuilt to the same specs. Full article
How long does it take?
10 business days for a retro-PURE.
Is PUREing the same as spine alignment or FLO?
No. Spine alignment finds the stiffest side, and FLO finds the plane of flat vibration by eye. PUREing measures the shaft all the way around by machine. Full article
Adjustable drivers
Does adjusting my driver’s hosel undo PUREing?
On many drivers, yes. Turning the sleeve turns the shaft, moving its PURE plane off target. Choose your setting in the fitting and leave it there, or have the shaft reinstalled for a new setting. Full article
